As regards submission of application for registration as OCI cardholder in lieu of the PIO card online, the date of submission of online applications by the erstwhile PIO cardholders with valid PIO cards has been extended till 31.12.2017. All erstwhile PIO cardholders are advised to submit their applications online by 31.12.2017 at the consular counter of the High Commission of India, Av. Kenneth Kaunda 167, Maputo between 0900 hrs and 11 hrs on any working day.
Government of India, Ministry of Home affairs has introduced and implemented the online module for submission and processing of OCI applications.
With effect from 23rd November 2015, all applicants are required to upload the photograph and signature online. After completing the online registration process (Parts A & B), applicants need to upload the requisite documents* (self-attested) online.
Accordingly, all applicants are requested to henceforth strictly follow the procedure mentioned below for processing of applications for conversion of PIO card into OCI card.
-The applicant shall submit the application form online at the OCI registration website-http://passport.gov.in/oci/ - then select option OCI Registration (in lieu of valid PIO card) and upload the recent photograph and signature as per the correct specification. After completion of the online form Parts A & B, the applicant must upload the supporting documents* .
-After the successful registration of OCI application and uploading the supporting documents – self attested (in pdf format), the applicants are required to submit the hard copy of the duly signed application form (in case of minors who cannot sign, left hand thumb impression may be provided) with 2 photographs and the Original documents at the Indian High Commission in Maputo. Applicants are also required to provide/submit in original all the documents have been uploaded after online registration.
-Once the original documents have been verified by the High Commission of India, Maputo, the original documents will be returned to the applicants.
-If there is any deficiency in the application/uploaded documents/photograph, found in the documents, the Indian Mission in Maputo will inform the applicants of the same.
No applications will be accepted, if the online registration is not completed and Supporting Documents / Photograph/Signature are not uploaded successfully as per the guidelines.
All applicants are requested to strictly comply with the above mentioned instructions.
